There’s something about treating yourself to a caffeinated beverage that puts a little more prep in your step than an average cup of joe. Add a scoop of collagen to hit your protein target for the day (also helps keep your joints happy).
The Way Up Collagen is unflavoured and odourless, and also dissolves in hot and cold liquids. Talk about versatile!
Love coffee? Here’s how to use it to support you rather than destroy you.
Black coffee has no calories, yet it gives you energy: why?
Caffeine stimulates stress hormones and stress hormones melt your body down for energy.
Don’t do that – you’ll destroy your beautiful body. If you’ve done that already: stop.
Always drink coffee in the presence of calories – some protein, a little fat, and as many carbs as you need at that time.
Think of coffee as your handbag, and your food as the dress. Coffee should compliment you, not complete you.
If it completes you, you can slowly say goodbye to your youthful, well functioning body and metabolism. What a shame.
If I need a quick metabolic/energy boost, that’s got body building properties, rather than body destroying ones, I get my organic coffee, put a big scoop of collagen in it, with milk, and if I’m using it as a meal replacement, I’ll put some maple syrup in there also.
Recipe Homemade Collagen Mocha Frappe
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons cacao powder
- 1- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons maple syrup (depends on how sweet you like it
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons or 1 scoop of The Way Up collagen
- 2-4 coffee ice cubes (just freeze your leftover drip coffee in ice cube trays)
- Topping of choice, optional
- Combine all ingredients in a blender.
- Blend until smooth, about 20-30 seconds.
- Top with your choice of whip cream and chocolate shavings if desired
#PROTIP: Best to combine coffee with meals. Coffee complements a meal similar to how accessories, like a necklace or watch, complement an outfit. The accessory enhances the outfit, but it’s always combined with pants (protein) and a shirt (carbohydrate). Add sugar, milk (or cream) and collagen if you need help to hit your protein target for the day.
